Biscoe commissioners to hear Carolina Dairy progress

Biscoe Town Commissioners will meet tonight (Feb. 9). Among their agenda items is an update on the progress of Carolina Dairy.

According to information received from Biscoe Town Manager Brooks Lockhart, officials from Carolina Dairy are expected to talk to commissioners about the plant’s construction and production, and its impact on the local economy, including employment and the benefit to other local businesses.

Carolina Dairy manufactures yogurt for wholesale customers and received a building reuse grant from the North Carolina Department of Commerce to aid in the rehabilitation of a facility previously owned and operated by another firm. With the work complete, the grant is expected to be closed soon.

The meeting is set to start tonight at 7 at the Biscoe Municipal Building.
