Stanly County authorities will resume searching Lake Tillery for the body of Jaquarious Kendall.
The Albemarle High School senior has not been seen since Jan. 25, and crews have performed many searches on water and land since that time. The Stanly County Sheriff’s Office has interviewed dozens of people, and the missing teenager’s family and friends have also posted hundreds of flyers seeking information, but no information has yet led to finding Kendall.
The Stanly News & Press reported over the weekend that Kendall’s 17-year-old girlfriend said he “threatened to kill himself because she was ending the relationship.” Investigators confirmed they suspect Kendall committed suicide, possibly by jumping from the Garrison Bridge on Hwy. 24/27 at Swift Island.
The car Kendall was thought to have been driving was found near the bridge with his cell phone locked in the trunk. No other personal items have been found.
Anyone with information is asked to report it to the Stanly County Sheriff’s Office at 704-986-3700 or to local law enforcement at 911.
