West Montgomery High School is losing its varsity football coach. Sources tell WMTG Nick Eddins is leaving West to become head football coach at 1,200-student Crest High School in Shelby, N.C.
Eddins has coached West football since 2011, compiling an overall record of 71-15, according to West football historian J.W. Houston. Among other accomplishments, Eddins took the team to two state championship games and coached them to a school record for most wins in a single season (15 in 2016).
School personnel close to the situation say Coach Eddins was scheduled to meet with students this morning (Feb. 13) at 9 to announce his departure.
NOTE: The original version of this story said Nick Eddins had coached West football since 2010, compiling an overall record of 78-21. The source material (MaxPreps.com) was incorrect, and we regret the error.
Congratulations, hate to see you leave, but never stop someone for bettering themselves. You have been an inspiration to many and loved by many as well. Good luck to you and your family.
